Dear Chelsea,
The staff at elaney has not yet received our invites to your wedding! We are sure there was a mistake; however, there are no hard feelings. We assume you would like for us to show up anyway. See ya in Rhinebeck. Muah!
Love,
e
We are completely caught up in Chelsea’s wedding plans! A $2 million affair?!? It’s too good for a blogger to be true. We found some deets about where the money is going:
- The rumored location for the high-profile event (Astor Courts), could cost between $125,000 to $200,000 alone.
- The catering, being done by Blue Ribbon Restaurants, St. Regis and Olivier Cheng Catering and Events, is estimated to cost $750,000. One company might be doing the cocktail hour with another taking care of the main meal and the third one doing late-night snacks.
- Wedding planner Claudia Hanlin told ABC News that each company may charge around $500 a head, given the remote nature of the wedding site, along with having to share the kitchen and coordinate with two other caterers. That works out to $1,500 per guest (there’s rumored to be 500 of them) for food alone.
- $250,000 for the flowers
- $40,000 for the music
- $35,000 for photography
- $30,000 for security
It’s still a mystery whether she is wearing Oscar or Vera…Oprah and Whoopi are both expected to be there… Is $2 million disgustingly ridiculous for a wedding? Of course! Are we so excited we can hardly wait to see the photos? YES! You go girl. You’ve come a long way since our study abroad group used to snap photos of you making out with your old BF Ian at Blackwell’s book store at Oxford University.

Reader egray: ”Okay elaney, post request: what are the favorite songs to dance to at weddings? Besides your favorite by Beyonce, of course.”
Great question Reader egray! There is nothing more fun than having a little vino and cutting a rug at a wedding, as we were reminded this weekend at Reader Ace’s wedding. Our favorites? ”Build Me Up Buttercup,” ”Keep Me Hanging On,” and “Be Young, Be Foolish,” to name a few! Help Reader egray out and let her know what you wanna hear!

So we all know that no one wears white to a wedding, except the bride (assuming she’s not with child and even then it’s fine these days. es fiiiiine). And we all know that it’s probably best not to wear white to the rehersal dinner (at least if you in the same age range as the bride and in the wedding party). However, here’s something all of us at elaney are stumped on (and of course, none of the interns from NYU Journalism School have a clue): Can you wear white to an engagement party? Even if there’s no rule about it, it just feels a little bold. But we looooove white dresses (and of course, the highly publicized love for white shorts). This little white knit Milly…es okay? Or would wearing it yield a bunch of women that pronounce “spider” more like “spida” talking about you?

Lately a new bridal trend is to wear colored shoes with your dress. Reader CharMar is thinking of wearing blue shoes for her something new! We love this idea! What do you think about mixing it up with a splash of color? Are you a traditional white is right, or do you think Something Blue is fun for Something New??

SWF seeks RPSPDSDW (reasonably priced, sexy party dress for spring daytime wedding). Reader wishes to remain anonymous (this is not secretly one of the interns OR elaney). She is blonde, tall, thin and pretty. Needs something for a 1:00 wedding in April – budget fashionista style. Doesn’t dress too funky – can wear form fitting. Any ideas out there??
Here’s one suggestion. $116 from Chetta B.*

*disclaimer – not my favorite dress. busy day.

Jennbug the bold has agreed to once again throw herself into the line of fire. After willingly letting readers weigh in on the bmaid dress (readers spoke, said no, jen went with another option), she’s up for doing it about the shoes! Here’s a pic of the dress and her two shoe options. Fashionistas, what do you think?

Note: Both shoes would be gold – pics in gold weren’t available for option 2.
