For most of our lives, we’ve loved Katie Couric. We love her cute style, her wit, her fun loving personality. How she says “New York women don’t wear panty hose.” She’s just so cool! And she made mornings for years and years so informed and interesting. Fast forward to Fall 2006. When Merideth Vieira came to the Today Show, we were not happy. We didn’t like how she always commented on Matt’s good looks (so awkward), her goofy jokes, how she always rolled up her notes and hit Al with them, but today…we’ve decided to offer a truce. Maybe it’s Joel McHale that has made the Today Show fun again, but you know what else, we like Merideth. She’s not perfect. She’ll never have Katie’s spot in our heart. But she’s not all bad. Even if she does wear panty hose. What do you think? Do you like Meredith?

We understand why you might think the The Biggest Loser is your average reality television show trash. Elements: competition, voting off ceremony, regular people losing their tempers and becoming famous, soap star as host – if you look at it on paper, it’s vintage formula. But, it’s so inspiring. First of all, every time we watch it: tears (re: floodgates, and elaney is a crier, but this is extreme). Secondly, it just breaks and mends your heart to watch people who have given up on themselves start to believe again! This season is all about second chances, and it’ll make you teary-eyed just thinking about it. You hear them say things like, “I’ve been surviving and not living” (after losing both husband and children in an accident). And Jillian! You have to love Jillian. It’s really amazing, and it makes you believe in yourself. Sure, there’s a lot people eating instant oatmeal and wearing kind of creepy bath sandals, but it will warm your Tuesday nights (even better than a hot greasy meal will).
