Kate Middleton is perfect. There’s no other way to say it. She’s like the homecoming queen that you want to hate but is too nice and pretty x 10,000. And we have to thank Reader Melby for sending us this fabulous tumblr feed all about all the ways that she’s better than us. Here’s our favorite so far:
Reader g-love’s obsession with Kate Middleton kind of freaks us out (she basically growls when she talks about her), but we get it. She’s beautiful. She’s skinny. Her taste is flawless. And she was once just a little girl like we all were who grew up to be a princess! We’ve heard about the Middleton effect since the engagement (apparently the epic blue Issa dress sold out in under 24 hours), and that was just the beginning. She wears a plain, cream cashmere sweater and all of a sudden goats are on the endangered species list. The latest and greatest is that Kate, in yet another perfectly played public image descision, has started donning sheer pantyhose. And even more impressive, she’s pulling them off. Katie Couric famously told us that “New York women don’t wear pantyhose” (Michelle Obama hates them too), but apparently British women do, because pantyhose sales in the UK have gone up 85%!! What do you think? Are you hoping for shiny long legs like Kate? Or are you still a modern American woman like Katie?
So, in the past few days, I’ve literally heard 4 of my short list of bffs say that they are completely obsessed with Kate Middleton and can’t get enough of her. I will not give away any of the identities, but a few sample comments: “I feel like I hate myself and everything about my life because I am not her.” ”I want to stop eating and start smoking to be more like her.” (BTW, last night Lady Gaga told us you don’t have to be thin to be beautiful – yet she’s definitely a size 0). This Kate M obsession sounds like the kind I might have before all I did was work all the time, but now that my Us Weeklys are backlogged and my daily rendevouz with e! news seems like a thing of the past, you have to help me understand….what is it about Kate Middleton that you love??
Sidebar: In reseaching this topic, we discovered that she’s allegedly designing her own dress. It will have an essence of the Renaissance period, and the reportedly ivory, satin and lace frock will include a “nod” to the Emanuel wedding dress donned by Princess Di along with pearl button detail and a 10-foot-train.

As we’ve well publicized, we were formerly die hard Katie Couric and Today Show fans, but in the recent years, we’ve just been left unfulfilled. Matt seems like he might have an crazed ego screaming fit at any moment…Meredith is hitting her co-hosts with her rolled up notes…Natalie is just being her beautiful self and making us feel inadequate…you know all this already.
However, we just looooove morning TV during the holidays! Walking down the stairs, seeing the beautiful (tiny) tree in the living room, pouring some coffee and hearing the Today Show hosts talk all about goodwill and gifts and the Salvation Army collecting change and the tree in Rock Center. We love it!
And this morning, we were so glad we turned in, because we learned that we can look just like a princess by wearing hats. Apparently, hats are far more common in the UK, and we have to say, we kind of have an inkling to wear a Kate Middleton beret! Thoughts?
And no one knows that more than “Waity Katie,” but wait no more! After 8 years, their engaged. Read it and weep.
