Gruyere Baked Grits
They taste gourmet, and they aren’t hard to make. They might give you a heart attack, but you’ll definitely die happy.
Ingredients:
- 1 qt. milk
- ½ cup butter
- 1 cup uncooked real grits
- 1 tsp. salt
- ½ tsp. pepper
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup butter
- 6 oz. Gruyere cheese, grated
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions:
Bring milk to boil over medium heat, stirring often. Add ½ cup butter and grits. Cook, stirring until mixture is consistency of oatmeal. Remove grits from heat. Add salt, pepper, and egg, beating until well combined. Add 1/3 cup butter and Gruyere cheese. Pour into greased 2-quart casserole dish. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake at 350 for an hour.
