Summer: 9 to 5 Style

As our running partner (and teacher friend) parted ways with us this morning, and as we watched her run of into the wild blue yonder that is her summer vacation, it was difficult to not feel a pang of jealousy.  However, envy does no one any good.  Plus, it ages you.  So we’ve decided to come up with a list of ways to do summer: 9 to 5 style.

1.  Wear opened, toed, highly inappropriate sandals to work.  Es fiiine.
2.  Go blonde.
3.  Enjoy a little sunset happy hour with friends and coworkers.  Margaritas on the deck!  (easy recipe here).
4.  Eat your lunch outside – you aren’t that busy!
5.  Wear bright colors and lots of dresses.
6.  Take a vaca – even if you are super busy – summer just isn’t summer without sinking your toes into the sand.

Sum Summer Fun

Readers – Summer is officially here.  It’s June.  Schools out.  Teacher friends are keeping everyone at the elaney office informed about what’s on The View.  Sigh.  At elaney, we looooooove summer.  We love the beach, bikinis, cook outs, sitting outside at restaurants, beach reads, the Fourth of July, tans, sandals, flip flops, shorts, extra daylight, blueberries on sale at Publix…the list could go on.  Humor us and tell us what your favorite things about summer are!!

Inman Park Festival

Regarded as the most electic and favorite weekend festival in the city, the Inman Park Festival starts Saturday and Sunday!  Inman Park is a great ATL neighborhood – come enjoy the art, food, music and fun of the locals and with the elaney staff!

Ask elaney…

One of our favorite features around here includes asking elaney any random question you have on your mind.  It started two years ago at the Christmas party, when we allowed the interns to each ask elaney one question (usually, they are not allowed to speak unless spoken to), and it was a huge hit!  So fire away ladies – what do you need to know?!

Wino No More

We love some vino around here, but fitsugar.com posted five reasons why one glass is better than two (we always thought it was the other way around).  Take it or leave it, but good to know regardless.  And happy Friday!
  1. One glass of wine a day can reduce you risk of having a heart attack, but two glasses of wine a day increases your chance for developing breast cancer.
  2. One glass of wine a day can increase bone strength, but two or more glasses daily can weaken bones. This decrease in bone density can put you at risk for developing osteoporosis.
  3. One glass of red wine a day may help you stay thin, but two or more glasses a day may raise the fats found in your blood
  4. Drinking wine in moderation may help improve your ability to create and maintain memories, but two or more glasses, especially when coupled with tobacco use, canhasten the onset of Alzheimer’s.
  5. Drinking one glass of wine a day can lower your chances of having a stroke, but drinking more can raise your chances of having one.
