Movie Day Friday
Movies for the weekend:
1. Forgetting Sarah Marshall. About a man’s quest to grow up and get over the one that got away. Highly promoted and christened with the kiss of Judd Apatow, this film will be a box office success, but is it gonna be good? The critics say yes. Best critique: “Like its hero, Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a little soft around the middle, but all the more loveable for that.” (Slate).
2. The First Saturday in May. Story about the dream to get a horse into the Kentucky Derby. Generally, we’ll watch a film that strokes the Americana lover in us and when it’s well made, we like it. Best critique: “May takes its sweet time getting to the big day, but that eventually works in its favor, since the filmmakers are ultimately more concerned with the journey than the destination.” (Onion AV Club).
