It’s been months since the last edition of elaney’s Favorite Things! So meet the latest – the Capri Blue, Volcano candle. As a girl who loves candles, in the morning, in the evening, at weddings, at parties, while reading in bed, etc, a candle needs to be pretty good to call it a favorite. For many years, Votivo in Red Currant was the pick (#18 on favorite things list), but Capri Blue trumped Red Currant in such an upset that we were willing to do back to back candles on the favorite things list. Boom. So check it out. It’s amazing.

A Favorite Things listing is loooong overdue, and Votivo Candles are the lucky winner. Not much for the “scented candle” (Bath and Body Works in 7th grade put us a little over the edge there), Votivo Candles are fragrant enough to make you lay your head down, smile, and fall asleep. A great little hostess gift or birthday present, the Red Currant version the one that tickles our fancy. “An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips,” and in all honesty, so are these candles!

L’Occitane Verbena Cooling Hand Cream Gel is “hands down” the most lovely lotion we’ve ever discovered. Stumbled upon it in a hotel sample, and now we can’t get enough. It smells so good, but with no hint of the Bath & Body Works scents that make us nauseated and remind us of peace sign necklaces from Claire’s and contact paper in lockers (Isa – just to be clear, those references are meant negatively). Plus, the product is so so good! It doesn’t make your hands feel greasy, but they stay soft all day. Best lotion ever. Hands down.

Some of the favorite reader posts are the Favorite Things* editions (to see them, just search Favorite Things in the search bar). However, we’re out for now, and we want to know…what are your favorite things?!?
*Not just something you like, something you like so much you have an emotional connection with it. For more, see 1990′s Herbal Essence commercial.

The bagel is something near and dear to our hearts. Honestly, it’s difficult to put into words. We’ll just say this: as fairly weight conscious people (not a lot of Sloppy Joe’s in the elaney break room), we boldly ate our bagels right through the carb-restriction of ’01-’04. And we’ll even go this far: if we had to choose between losing 5 pounds and never having another bagel, we’d take the bagels any day. Now those are fightin’ words.
Just the thought of biting into a warm whole grain bagel from Panera makes our little heart skip. Or a blueberry bagel from the delicious H&H Bagels of NYC. And don’t think we don’t smother with cream cheese. Because we do. Unabashedly. Pair with our beloved Panera coffee…and bagels are definitely one of our most favorite things!

Good things come when a bell rings. An angel gets its wings…and the Salvation Army gives to charity! The Christmas Kettle is an integral part of the Christmas season, and we love pouring our loose change into the little red bucket. Best of all, they now take debit cards (only in beta stages though). Merry Merry!
