Sometimes we think to ourselves, “God really does love us. That’s why we have wine and coffee.” For many moons, we’ve made Foldgers French Roast coffee and walking downstairs to the smell of coffee beans is a wonderful way to wake up (“My favorite moment of the day is my first sip of coffee.” – eMum). And while we have no problem with the Folgers French Roast, to steal a line from Sugarland, “There’s gotta be something more.” So dear Readers, before we order more coffee for the elaney breakroom, do tell! What is your favorite over the (kitchen) counter coffee?

Summer brings salad and seafood at our house. Need a refreshing white wine with an acid flavor? Anyone who hates Chardonnay will love this Woodbridge Sauvingon Blanc. About $9-10 for a regular bottle, so it’s perfect for a Tuesday night grilled shrimp dish.

Soy what’s all this about Soy Milk? We know we shouldn’t drink too much diet coke, coffee, and wine (which we would never do
), but we always thought skim milk was fine! Then all of a sudden, everyone is a milk snob. Scene: coffee shop. Main Character: Jada with cool glasses. Jada: ”Um, do you have soy? No? Nevermind then.” We are really confused, so we decided to figure out was was soy great about soy milk.
Soy milk is basically like cow’s milk, though most soy milk is enriched with added vitamins such as vitamin B12. It has about the same amount of protein as cow milk. Unlike cow’s milk it has little saturated fat and no cholesterol, which is apparently the main benefit. Um, correct us if we’re wrong, but skim milk is pretty legit no? No fat there? Um, anyway. What we did discover is that soy milk is linked to cognitive damage in rats!!! Um, skim for me please. Take that Jada.
