Artist Spotlight: Whitney Wood

We love all artists around here – those who paint with brushes, fingers, and numbers are all welcome at elaney.  However, we recently discovered (okay, people who matter discovered her – we met her at brunch) a talented artist on her way up.

Whitney says, “My work provides a field for contemplating an intersection of faith and reason with intuition and logic….Using both organic and highly controlled painting techniques, the resulting composition is a compromise between excess and restraint, impulse and logic.”

She was recently chosen to be the cover of Carnegie Hall’s November Playbill!  We are always inspired by someone who uses their talents…here’s to using your talents well!  For more, click here.

Elaney Artist Alert!

If there are two things we love at elaney (and scroll down to see that most every post tosses the “L” word around somewhere – what can we say, we have lots of love to give), they are art and entrepreneurs.  So when you wrap them up into a starving artist trying to make it on her own, we say “La Vive Boheme!”  This artist is more like “La Vive Juliska 8 piece setting,” but by golly we love some dishware too.  Olivia Cheves Blanchard has been painting since she was playing on the Cougar softball team, and she has always been gifted with a distinct style.  Her specialty is abstracted flower still lifes, and they are beautiful and vibrant. Please check out this artist’s extraordinaire’s website – and make sure to read her suggestions in the captions.
