Art Spotlight: Christo

Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s work is about temporarily altering an environment.  The artists use one part of the environment, so we can see and perceive the whole environment with new eyes and a new consciousness.  Christo’s The Gates in Central Park of NYC was completed in 2005 after being originally conceived in 1979.

Art Spotlight: Manet

Edward Manet, “A Bar at the Folies-Bergere”

300px-edouard_manet_004.jpg

Manet’s depiction of a barmaid (names Suzen) at the Folies-Bergere.  This painting inspires us because of the thoughtful, longing, yet empty look in Suzen’s eyes.
