As a women, you hate to be obvious. No one wants to be like that girl in 10th grade that knew she had the best body and always wanted to get into her bikini. Annoying. However, as a woman, you also can’t help but like yourself in certain fashion items, and you ladies know one of our favorite things to wear…shorts! You have to wait anxiously for Easter every year, but it’s the final countdown and time to pick the shorts of 2010. Love these from J.Crew. The have some shape while still looking pretty casual.

The Ides of…Beer?

Today is the Ides of March!! But more like “the Ides of Beer” according to the folks at the Monday Night Brewery.

Atlantans, meet Jonathan, Joel, and Jeff.

These three guys have been brewing beer in Atlanta for over three years, and every few Monday nights they gather people of all walks of life to enjoy their latest brews. A few weeks ago, the boys hosted “Ladies’ Night” and gave personal tours to quite a few elaney girls. And we have to say, we were very impressed. Who knows how in the world they figured out how to create their own brewery (maybe going to Harvard, UVA, and Emory helped) but even beyond that, it’s really good beer!

Tonight they are hosting “the Ides of Beer,” so check them out! Buy their beer and get ready to see them be very successful. We are excited to say that we knew them before “weekends were overrated.”

Growing up in South Georgia, we thought that “designer” clothes came from the Gap and J.Crew (and to get J.Crew clothing – you had to drive to the a). Until one day, our senior year of high school, our fabulous Aunt / Reader Dolly brought us a ripoff of the classic Kate Spade handback she had bought on the streets in NYC.

Fast forward to years later and Kate Spade still rubs us the right way. Her clothing line is so girlie and feminine – we love! However, the pricing is not so off the streets of NYC….

Everyone has days when you wake up, hit your alarm to snooze, skip spin class, and wear your hair wavy. As Atlantans know, today’s weather makes you want to listen to Belle & Sebastian, drink hot tea, and cuddle up on the couch and watch movies during the day. And do laundry. (loooove to do laundry. Love the way clean laundry feels, smells, love the way the house feels when the washing machine and dishwasher are running. Love it love it love it). But alas, work calls. However, if you WERE at home and COULD watch a movie during the day, what are your favorite movies to watch over and over and over again?

With every season change, we have the unquenchable urge to go on a trip. This year, the itch is particularly compelling since we missed our “one big trip a year” idea in 2009. Yesterday every song in spin class was reminding us of being in spin class and NOT somewhere fun. While in high school and college, emum and edad called elaney their “rich relative” based on the jet setting lifestyle, and edad would lament, “When I was in college, we went two places: Panama City and Vietnam.” Well guess what? Traveling ain’t so easy when no one else is paying for it. And it’s further no fun when your friends respond to your grand trip idea emails with “great idea elaney, but I’m already going to Cayman / London / San Francisco / Italy / etc.”

So faithful readers, please help us. We are DYING to take a trip. Please help us be cool and fabulous. AND CHEAP. Something really fun and tropical and maybe not driving distance away. Just want to put on a bathing suit and drink something from a pineapple. Do you have ANY ideas for sunny travel on a budget?

There is nothin’ we love like whipping out a new spring dress when the air is still a lil chilly. And it’s so timely – now that we’ve discovered folk covers of hip hop songs, we’re really into pairing two things that aren’t supposed to go together. Red wine and shrimp. Spring dresses and cool air. Open toed boots. Hip hop and folk singers. Having a new spring wardrobe and not being completely broke. You get the drift.

So what are some cute spring work / day dresses that don’t break the bank? Banana is kicking off the new season with some cute ones. Here’s a do, and a don’t.

Season Change Wardrobe Crisis

It’s March, and we know what that means. Lots of ladies running around trying to get ready in the morning with nothing to wear. You are so sick of your winter clothes you don’t know what to do, and you have no idea what you wore last spring. The few items you can find seem a little more faded and wrinkly than they once did. There is only one cure for midseason blues…retail therapy.

We’re gotten distracted with winter, but we are officially Marching into spring by kicking off 3 straight days of fashion posts. And we are starting with everyone’s favorite warm weather attire…the swimsuit. Not feeling so sexy? Check out Spanx’s new line of swimwear. They are mostly one pieces and tankinis (btw, ladies, everyone to have 1 one piece – there are occasions when a 2 piece is not appropriate), but they have a few tiny bikinis too! They aren’t cheap (around $180), but it makes you feel cute and confident, who cares? Which ones do we like? The ones with ruffles of course!
