Once upon a Columbus, GA, it only took night out a Carrabbas and some Raisinets from Carmike for a happy elaney to make. Nowadays, we have so much more to choose from and there are so many fun things to do! Just a few we are looking forward to over the next few weeks:
Boutique Bargains Clearance Sale: This weekend July 23-24 is the 2xs a year warehouse sale from boutiques all over ATL. Featuring merchandise from Lena La Rose, Tulipano, Fab’rik, and Lexie + Jane, the sale takes place in Atlantic Station from 10 – 6 and is totally worth the trip!
Fox Film Festival: Check out old and new films (including SATC 2 on August 12th) at the Fox! Enjoy a festive wine tasting before watching a film on the original big screen.
Castleberry Hill Art Stroll: It happens every second Friday of the month, but August is the month for us! Wander in and out of Atlanta’s eclectic galleries and restaurants and find some new art at the city’s “Best Art Stroll.” Plus, appreciate the neighborhood and experience the perks of in town living.
We’ve been looking forward to The Ugly Truth for awhile now, as the trailers started playing forever ago. Sure Kat Heigl is a little bit annoying, but she’s married to an Augusta boy, and we can’t lie, we liked 27 Dresses (sidebar, if you feel the need to start a sentence like this “hey, it’s kind of funny that your name is ‘Laney’ and her name is ‘Janey’ – about 27 people have beat you to it). But Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 13%! Ouch (less than half of 27). However, it also predicted Bride Wars to be horrible, and it was kind of fun. Maybe the ugly truth is that The Ugly Truth is a rental. What do you think – are you going to see it?
Screen on the Green starts tonight! Kicking off its 10th year, SOTG is back with Back to the Future. Free at Centennial Park from 6 – 11 pm. Bring a picnic, but leave the adult beverages at home. Available only for purchase on the grounds.
The rest of the lineup: “Dreamgirls,” June 4; “Field of Dreams,” June 11; “Home Alone,” June 18; and “Ghostbusters,” the winner of an online vote, June 25.
Only 11 episodes left until Jay Leno passes the Tonight Show torch to Conan O’Brien. We know there are a lot of Conan fans around here, but Jay just makes us laugh in such a good, happy, wholesome way. So what are you thinking? Are you sad to see Jay walking (and to see no more Jay Walking) or are you ready for quirky Conan?
