Why Didn’t You Write??*
After recently reading Mindy Kaling’s book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (which, btw, could also be a title for a book we might write on our college experience), we started thinking about her love of romantic comedies (one of the more clever sections of the book – along with the list of things all men should do to be attractive), we started thinking…where have all the good men romantic comedies gone?? The first decade of the 2000s brought so many gems…The Holiday, 27 Dresses, Sweet Home Alabama, Love Actually, My Best Friend’s Wedding, He’s Just Not That Into You, The Proposal, and Wedding Crashers (okay, so Wedding Crashers is a bit untraditional, but it’s a goodie). What have we had lately? Life As We Know It? How Do You Know? Ugh. Major Bleh.** Dear Hollywood, please hear our cry…Reese, Katherine Heigl, Sandra Bullock, come back to us! Give us the When Harry Met Sally of the present. elaney girls, help us…are there any recent or coming soon romcoms that might be worth seeing?
*Such a great line from The Notebook
**The one exception might be Crazy, Stupid, Love which was pretty g. Ryan Gosling – from Lars and the Real Girl to The Notebook to Half Nelson…you’ve never done us wrong.

Does “Midnight In Paris” count? I loved that one. Crazy Stupid Love is definitely on the list… and everything else was pretty much terrible.
I’m well-versed in all 1990-2010 romcom options, but I’m concerned for all the tweens and teens out there. Without those films, they may not even recognize love if it’s staring them in the face. [Ex: My Best Friends Wedding, the boat scene]. Quelle horreur!

Yes! Movie studio gods, please deliver us a new, decent, cute romantic comedy to be excited about. Midnight in Paris did help fill the void.

Ha! Yes absolutely. And if we’re being honest, that little clip made me swoon a bit. #bringbacktheromcom
