Dang Those Hipsters; alt title, How to Be A Hipster by Reader Carli
Jump to Comments
Went with Reader Carli et al to the Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr concert last night at The Drunken Unicorn. Carli is our go-to consult for new music and last night she was inspiring us to channel our inner hipster (She also kept trying to pick out cute hipster boys for us but kept losing them in the crowd – prompting the best line of the night, “Dang those hipsters, they all look alike.”). Here’s what we learned.
How to be a Hipster, by Reader Carli:

1. Go to cool underground concerts at places with names like "The Drunken Unicorn." Don't be afraid of lead singers that look like Jimmy Fallon and half attempts at crowd surfing. It's cool.

What kinds of pets do hipsters usually have? Hypoallergenic dogs?

Carli – Not sure those fake glasses are the exact type of frames that hipsters wear. But A for effort. Also, did you know that JLAL wore fake glasses for a time in college? True story.

To be clear… I am not a real hipster. I just *try* to fit in at hipster concerts. And the glasses were a hand-me-down, but sadly not from reader JLAL.

Drinkard–it was post college. I even got a phone number once wearing them. They were teacher hot. Not hipster like Carli, though!!!

Query, Carli, regarding # 3: “Be nice to your preppier friends.”
Which of the four women in that picture are the “preppier friends?” To my untrained eye, it looks like any of them could have been in Pretty in Pink.

Dr Love,
If you are insinuating that my ruffled anthropologie top is more preppy than hipster, I am deeply offended.
XOXO,
Carli
