Sometimes when we post things that we’ve already purchased, we regret it (re: Kim Kardashian like bikini that had some major haters). However, it was a Sunday. It was hot. The Apple store was giving us a headache. Kids were screaming and playing video games that made annoying sounds. We just needed to get out of there. In a sea of Apple store horror, we were momentarily dazzled by the logo on our new iPhone case, but now we’re having a bit of buyer’s remorse. For one, the side is hot pink and it’s seriously girly (are men going to think I’m the type of girl that squeals and says “so is this a football game or a basketball game??!? Sports are so confusing”), and two, it’s huge. Not dainty at all like our old one. What do you think? Did the little kid smearing Dunkaroos all over us lead us to make a bad snap decision? Or are designer iPhone cases like this fun?
We’re not really an early adopter by nature, we just work with enough people that are that we can kinda fake it (also, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank our company issued white iPhone, white iPad2, and MacBook Pro for making us look like something legit at airport security). So since we’ve discovered something on the early side (unlike iPhones. BTW iPhones are amazing and Seinfeld is hilarious), we have to share (ie, claim it like we did when we signed up for thefacebook.com October ’04)! Are you Spotifying yet? Oh em gee. If you like music, it will change your life. Bummed that you downloaded Rihanna’s “S&M” before the way cooler Britney version came out? Have a random hankering to hear Toto’s “Africa” because you had a fun dance party to it in college? Saw Notting Hill on TBS and want to hear Allison Krause’s “Nothing at All”? Have all these things and more for FREE. FREE. Make playlists and keep them and share with your friends (on thefacebook.com). It’s a random music lovers dream. Mobile app too for $5 a month. Seriously iTunes is so 2011 Q2.
Um, they were good. The Britney performance was a bit of a tease (waay too short), and emum said that the way Beyonce told the world she was pregnant would make her grandmother roll over in her grave (we think the exact quote was “First the Democrats and now the VMAs. I’m worried about our country”), but overall we were happy, happy, young pop lovers last night. Britney looked good as she accepted the lifetime achievement award (at 29, which is perhaps ancient in MTVland). Biebs is just stoic and growing up in front of our eyes. (Also, who in the world were the noms for best new artist?!? Only heard of one. Note to self: Renew subscription to TigerBeat asap). Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night was Gaga. She was predictably unpredictable and dressed like a man. We loved her performance, but we were a little weirded out by how long the guise lasted. She must feel really comfortable in her own skin to do that on public television. Was it brilliant or creepy? Overall thoughts on the night?
A friend of ours and talented writer, Taylor Bruce (former Southern Living Travel Editor, check out his blog at taylorbrucestory.com), is doing some research for his latest piece. Where were you on 9/11? Check out his site and share your story with him. You just might end up in print!
Our favorite season is so close we can taste it (oh football season, tailgating, running in t-shirts, pumpkin bread, red wine how we love thee so!!), and we are ready to get rid of our staple white short shorts (okay, we’re never fully ready to stop wearing short shorts, but you get the idea) and start thinking about our fall clothes!! One of our favorite fall / holiday season purchases is always our holiday party dress. What do we think about this cute one from Kate Spade? You know how we feel about cinching that waistline (a must – especially for Amazon women tall girls like us), but this one looks like it might still have some shape. Thoughts? Other ideas?
Not starring Tom Hanks. As you know, we love candles and have long loved Votivo’s Red Currant as our go-to $20 candle (can’t get Lafcos all the time), but lately we’ve decided Volcano Capri Blue might be our favorite. Since emum hates candles (and pretty much all things that are at all spiritual, but not religious including yoga and massages), we don’t have our normal opinion to default to on this issue. What do you think? Votivo Versus the Volcano or something else entirely?
