Don’t Pour Some Sugar On Me, But My Girl, Let’s Hear the Other Ideas
Jump to Comments
Reader egray: ”Okay elaney, post request: what are the favorite songs to dance to at weddings? Besides your favorite by Beyonce, of course.”
Great question Reader egray! There is nothing more fun than having a little vino and cutting a rug at a wedding, as we were reminded this weekend at Reader Ace’s wedding. Our favorites? ”Build Me Up Buttercup,” ”Keep Me Hanging On,” and “Be Young, Be Foolish,” to name a few! Help Reader egray out and let her know what you wanna hear!

I love to hear “You Look Wonderful Tonight”, “What a Wonderful World” and “My Girl” for the cute slow ones… anything Michael Buble makes me think of weddings… love to dance to older songs like “Summer of ’69″, “Dancing Queen” and “Love Shack” mixed in with some fun newer ones (depending on if there’s a band or a dj).
Last weekend I was at a wedding where we are positive they played the bride’s “do not play” list… and one time I was at a wedding where everyone did the “Superman that hoooo” dance and I was like uhhh NEVER at my wedding.

Here are my favorites:
Mustang Sally- Great song, lots of energy
Land of 1000 Dances- Lots of energy, great replacement for Shout
Lets Get it On – Its Marvin, Its a wedding, we all know what is going to happen later in the evening. State the Obvious.
Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m yours- Enough Said
Carolina in my Mind- Slow song, Since McEver went to North Carolina
Shooting Star- The Manhattans – Great slow song
One song that should be played is Lady in Red since the song is about a “woman of the night”

I meant to say Lady in Red should NOT be played.

“Dancing in the Moonlight” King Harvest – even if you don’t feel like dancing, when you hear the first few notes you want to grab a boy and dance!!

“aint to proud to beg”, “signed sealed delivered” and this is totally dorky, but “shout”
oh and “be young be foolish and be happy” and if you are from/went to carolina, “carolina girls”, “lets stay together”, “I can’t help myself (sugar pie, honeybunch), “Hallelujah, I love her so”

k, so I was at a wedding that played lady ga-ga poker face and it was pretty much off the chain

So my pilates teacher’s daughter is getting married and she -the mother of the bride- only requested “I like Big Butts” for the wedding. She’s a special lady.
Aint too Proud to Beg and Hey Ya are just the best!

Don’t Stop Believing at reader Ace’s wedding was a great way to end the night.
If there’s a DJ, the best song ever is Bust A Move.
I’m also a fan of rap music at very white Christian weddings.
