Frocks for Frolicking into Spring

“You can have whateva you like.  You can have whateva you like…” – Anya Marino, folk cover of T.I.’s hit***

There is nothin’ we love like whipping out a new spring dress when the air is still a lil chilly.  And it’s so timely – now that we’ve discovered folk covers of hip hop songs, we’re really into pairing two things that aren’t supposed to go together.  Red wine and shrimp.  Spring dresses and cool air. Open toed boots.  Hip hop and folk singers.  Having a new spring wardrobe and not being completely broke.  You get the drift.

So what are some cute spring work / day dresses that don’t break the bank? Banana is kicking off the new season with some cute ones.  Here’s a do, and a don’t.

Don’t: No waistline = no go.

  • a don’t! men like to see a waistline…

  • p.s. ironically, “whatever you like” in folk version seems even dirtier. love it, but definitely can’t add to the 6th grade carpool playlist on the way to school.

  • cpt – totally agree! almost didn’t recommend it on elaney, for that very reason…

think it’s the careful enunciating that makes it a little more suggestive

  • belt the dress!!

  • can’t get into the belting thing. don’t know what it is.

  • This is the first time I have commented but I love stalking your site (ummm, everyday). I don’t know if you have seen the ads by GreatGlam.com on the side bar but they seem a little un-elaney like to me…

  • I’ve been obsessed with that song since they played it on Gossip Girl in the fall, but then my sister heard it in my car and she said it sounded like a child molester’s anthem. Kind of ruined it for me.
    Love that first dress.

  • Beffers makes a good point, eLaney. GreatGlam.com is a little sketchy. Don’t think eMum would approve of some of those outfits…

  • HA – beffers – we like you. welcome to elaney!

  • BB loves greatglam.com. They have some good, affordable pieces for her to wear on the weekend.

  • Oh girl, as soon as I leave the office I ditch my suit and put on some rhinestones.

  • yessssssssssss

  • btw bb – took the second dress down bc of your comment. only liked the first one too, just didn’t have time to find something better

  • It wasn’t bad! I just like the first one more.

  • Elaney! I can’t get into belting either! And I don’t know why b/c I really like the look, I just can’t get it to look right on me. On-a-mannequin cute doesn’t always translate to on-me cute.
