A Wild (and Curly) Hair

First question to answer…from elaney.

So, for our entire life, we’ve had stick straight blonde hair and always coveted the curls of Reader shawtygetlow and Reader K-mart Krieg.  However, in the past year, the blonde straight hair has slowly and suspiciously gotten wavier and wavier.  Today, after looking in the mirror, it was declared official.  Hair is wavy…and now what to do??  Can anyone recommend products on how to make wavy hair hold curl?  Please let us know!

This Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue™ Styling Gel looked kinda good.  Any thoughts?

  • my hair has varied between wavy & curly since puberty and I swear by John Frieda Dream Curls spray & also their Frizz-Ease serum (hello, livingbelowtheMasonDixonline & humidity!)

I also like Bumble & Bumble styling creme (orange container).

    welcome to the curly club!

  • am loyal to Wired by Rusk.

  • Thanks for the shout out, elaney!
I have tried many a product (eg, every time I go to Sephora I ask for a sample of a styling product and take it home to try), and the one that STILL works best for me is Herbal Essence Curl Boosting Mousse. My hair would not curl without it. You have to scrunch with towel a lot so your hair won’t be too stiff.
Lulie disagrees – she likes Wired made by Rusk. I have found that every curly girl has fav product, apparently no hair is the same. Pick you up a few samples from Sephora and experiment away!

  • I have somewhere in between curly and straight.

When I wear it curly, I use Aveda Be Curly as well as Brilliant Retexturing gel. I combine the two when my hair is wet, and then use a diffuser to set the curls (if time allows). I put a little bit of the gel in after it is dry as well.

I think it works really well, mostly bc it smells really good. I’ve also used bumble and bumble, which I liked too. Good luck elaney!

  • Aveda Be Curly doesn’t work so well for me, but I know many a girl for whom it does. I swear by Phytocurl by Phyto (available at Sephora). They have both a shampoo and a spray for wet hair. A diffuser is great if time allows. Have fun!

  • I resent people who can dabble in both realms.
totally unfair (slash secretly covet the versatility)
Not even the strongest chemicals could get my hair to retain curl. booooo.

  • I am trying all of these products. I can’t find a good one any where. Something about my brother calling me Medusa growing up has certainly had it’s lasting effects. Ugh, I hate my hair.

  • I am with ABC. I have desperately tried to convince myself that my hair is developing some sort of a curl. I mean, I would take a small wave. Really I think it is just developing extra frizz. Super.

  • Question for all. Can your hair start to change late 2o’s? My hair is acting a way that it has never acted before. Its really weird. Help me!

  • shawty – please see above post. love, elaney

  • shawty, where have you been? i miss your comments.
