Jordin Sparks: You Win the Battle-field

Despite loving pop music as much as the deserts miss the rain, every now and then, we just can’t get on board with a particular artist (say for example, Nickelback – baa).  Jordin Sparks falls into said category – “Tattoo,” “One Step at a Time,” and “No Air” = no good.  Plus, while beautiful, she has a bit of an overgrown Disney character that’s just a little too cutesy.  However, we have to admit, she’s won the battle-field.  Of course, we “never meant to start a war,” but her prior songs were just so annoying!  But now we find ourselves with “both hands tied behind [our] back, with nothing.”  Sure she doesn’t “even know what we’re fighting for” (or that we’re fighting), but we’re happy to through in the towel.  Jordin – we love your new song!!

Tahari_vRecession

The Recession Markdown strikes again!  The original idea for this post was to show a $500+ Tahari suit then find a similar suit for under $100.  Well thanks to the retail meltdown miraculous markdowns, we found this $538 Tahari suit priced at  $243 (additional 25% taken at register)!  Still over $100, but quite the deal.

What You Knead

“A quotation at the right moment is like bread to the famished.” - The Talmud Quotations

As you all know, there is a special place in elaney’s heart for good hearty bread.  Breakfast bread, whole grains, cranberry bread – love it!!  Atkins?  Ha!  Bagels – we love you.  A good warm bread just brings a meal together.  What’s the best bread in Atlanta?  Alon’s Bakery.  If you’ve never been – you must go.  Bread and treats galore!

Clutch Time

First Kate Spade had a huge online sample sale, and now she’s got cute clutches marked down.  Shopping Addicts are officially loving this recession.  Time after time, we’ve been dressing for dinner, spraying our perfume, and thinking “if only we had a nice, classy little clutch.  Something simple, yet stylish, subtle, yet noticeable.”  Check out this cute little gray alligator skin clutch from Kate.

The Long and The Shorts of It: Part 2

Yesterday was the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, and we’re celebrating by admitting our short summer secret.  Cutoffs.  Sure Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson almost ruined them for everyone, but we still have a strange desire to wear them.  While we do not believe that cutoffs are appropriate past the age of 22 under most circumstances, if you are on a lake  / in a boat, cutoffs, a white v-neck t-shirt, and aviators still makes you feel cool.  Ugh!  It makes us cringe to admit it.  But even eMum look cool in that.  What do you think – is there something about long summer days that makes you want to cut off your shorts?
