L’Occitane Verbena Cooling Hand Cream Gel is “hands down” the most lovely lotion we’ve ever discovered. Stumbled upon it in a hotel sample, and now we can’t get enough. It smells so good, but with no hint of the Bath & Body Works scents that make us nauseated and remind us of peace sign necklaces from Claire’s and contact paper in lockers (Isa – just to be clear, those references are meant negatively). Plus, the product is so so good! It doesn’t make your hands feel greasy, but they stay soft all day. Best lotion ever. Hands down.

At elaney, we love festivals. Where does this come from – maybe the fact that the first incidence of “holding hands with a guy” took place at the Renissance festival in sixth grade (sometimes I think about how much ridiculous stuff I remember and about how smart I would be if my brain was filled with stuff about formulas and neutrons instead of every Oscar dress Cate Blanchett has ever worn. then i remember neutrons are boring and read celebrity gossip online). Moving On.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development has a great list of festivals to attend this spring. We’ll be at the ATL film festival and the Inman Park festival for sure! Check them out:

If you haven’t decided what to give up for Lent yet, this morning is the time! Today begins the Lenten season. You can probably guess, given our affinity for 1. holidays, traditions, and rituals and 2. the “self improvement” exercise, that we love some Lent. In the past we’ve given up alcohol, fast food, not getting enough sleep (that one was a failure) and artificial sweetener (also a failure). This year – we are going to try to give up “not doing things in moderation.” Some what of a habitual problem (quote the marathoner, addicted blogger, workaholic), but difficult to measure we fear. Still toying around some other ideas. What are you giving up? (And please, if what you are giving up is really just a ploy to loose some weight, call a spade a spade and feel free to share your new diet).

Reader Mo thought Penelope Cruz was the best dressed. We have to agree. We also liked Marisa Tomei and Viola Davis, but we did not like Natalie Portman (fuschia-ish pink does not belong on the red carpet) and we didn’t like SJP’s dress either. For good pics, click here. Who were your favs?
