Introducing…elaney book clubs!

Like to read?  As much as we appreciate your reading of blogs, we are instituting a new feature on elaney to help you step it up and sound educated, charming, and interesting at cocktail parties.  We’ll be picking a book every month to read and recaping / discussing at the end.  This month, we are reading “Sex, Economy, Freedom, & Community” by Wendell Berry (no need to start slow –  smart girls with superficial interests are still smart:)).  You know we love some emily giffin / meg cabot / sophie kinsella as much as the next girl, but we are going to try to delve into something a little more heady for the BC.  Berry’s book is a collection of eight essays about social issues written with his PCA perspective.  For more, read here.

i’m in. i need to do a little brain revving, and who better than mr. berry, my agrarian dreamboat, to get that started?

    p.s. does this mean you’ll mail me a copy ?! :)

  • robeen – i wasn’t planning on mailing copies to all readers, as the elaney budget is slim (for more, see *shopping addiction), but fyi, guilt trips work like skinny jeans on me – so you could play your cards right, as i really can’t say no.

…because of the recession, elaney, i appreciate your financial bootstrapping :) way to set an example. and lets face it, which has greater immediate impact? skinny jeans or a fat brain?

  • robeen – rather than answer your question directly, let me share with you a tidbit of information. in high school, i once gave my dear friend isa a hot pink baby tee that said “I wish these were brains.” interpret that how you will – and i wouldn’t be too literal if i were you.

  • Yay Elaney!!! Im so excited about this new feature.

  • hahahahaha!! I forgot about that t-shirt!!

  • Famous Kentuckian! I like it!
