We love avocado. We eat it on turkey sandwiches. On pita bread. In sushi. Heck, we even eat it plain. But there is not way to eat avocado better than…guacamole. Two ideas for your superBOWL of guacamole this weekend:
1. Dos Caminos. Click here for the secret recipe.
2. Wholly Guacamole. Having the ladies over for a superBOWL of guacamole? Try this heathier alternative with all natural ingredients.

For some reason, we love new pop songs more in the spring. There is something about green grass and eating outside that makes us want to get in the car with 3 girls and sing along with the radio a la driving from Peabody to Main Campus. It’s not even spring yet, and we are embarrassed to admit that Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” makes us feel like it is.

Life at the elaney office today: “Hmm, okay I need finish designing a new header for the enewsletter”….I see the lights; see the party, the ball gowns…”I need to send a book to that reporter”…You say hello, little did I know...”I need to rewrite that copy for the website”…That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles – And my daddy said “stay away from Juliet…”
And what else did I need to do?…
“Romeo take me somewhere, we can be alone.
I’ll be waiting; all there’s left to do is run.
You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess,
It’s a love story, baby, just say yes.”
Yeah spring!

Like to read? As much as we appreciate your reading of blogs, we are instituting a new feature on elaney to help you step it up and sound educated, charming, and interesting at cocktail parties. We’ll be picking a book every month to read and recaping / discussing at the end. This month, we are reading “Sex, Economy, Freedom, & Community” by Wendell Berry (no need to start slow – smart girls with superficial interests are still smart:)). You know we love some emily giffin / meg cabot / sophie kinsella as much as the next girl, but we are going to try to delve into something a little more heady for the BC. Berry’s book is a collection of eight essays about social issues written with his PCA perspective. For more, read here.

We have long been a devotee of the Julie Skinny Jean from True Religion – it even made our favorite things list! However, Champion 3.5 stars, Challenger 4 stars – there is a new fav in town. J Brand skinny jeans are amazing!! We love the dark denim – the way they hit slightly above the hips – the bunched legs. You put them on and think “Yes!” a la Herbal Essence commercial. If you haven’t tried them yet – we fully recommend.

It’s been awhile since we’ve done an art spotlight and put our Art History “major” to good use. Thanks to Google, we’ve learned that today commemorates the birthday of Paul Jackson Pollock (1912 – 1956). Pollock was a major force in the abstract expressionist movement and is credited as the first artist to paint fully abstracted works. Not a fan of abstract art? Think to yourself “I could do that?” Well, too bad you didn’t, as one of Pollock’s paintings sold in 2006 for $140 million - officially becoming the most expensive painting ever sold. And how is this for irony? That same year, a truck driver bought what is most likely a Pollock for $5 at a thrift store. For more about JP, read here.
