Adrian Grenier v. Jay Lions

Shawtygetlow was emailing the office all day yesterday asking about Jay Lions.  Since Shawty’s always talking about some new hot guy, we normally just ignore her, but the staff of elaney sat down to watch The City last night and we have to say, Jay Lions is quite the looker.  We think we actually heard one staff member say “I want to run my fingers through his hair.”

To be honest, we are kind of conflicted about our relationship right now.  Adrian Grenier  has been our celebrity boyfriend since 2007, but maybe it’s time to see other people?  To be honest, Adrian isn’t very attentive.  Maybe it’s time for a new year new man?  Readers – what do you think?  Adrian or Jay?

New Years Eve Party Dress

Ladies – you know how elaney feels about style.  Find your own style that makes you feel pretty and cute and special. You also know that our style around elaney is a little more classic.  We like black and white and pretending we are Jackie O.  But there are certain occasions when you have to break out of that mold.  Whether you are hippie chic, sophisticated, or have a granola natural look, NYE is the time to be sassy.  For sassy dress ideas, click here.

Chutney & Brie NYE App

Need something quick and easy for a NYE party?  We’ve always loved the flavors of chutneys – they taste fancy without a lot of effort.  Take this app and serve with Carr’s crackers.

Ingredients:
  • 1 (8-ounce) round Brie or Camembert Cheese
  • 1/2 cup mango or cranberry chutney
  • 2 tablespoons dried currants
  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons curry powder

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place cheese on cookie sheet and set aside.

In small heavy saucepan, combine chutney and currants. In small bowl, combine cornstarch, curry powder, and water and blend well until smooth. Stir into chutney mixture. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil and thickens. Set aside to cool while Brie is baking.

Bake cheese for 10-15 minutes or until softened. Remove to serving plate and top with chutney mixture. Serve with toasted baguette slices, crackers, and pear slices.

New Year's Things To Be Excited About

Not so much a resolution (re: may or may not have any constructive outcome) but what are some things are you going to do in the new year that you are looking forward to?

New Year – New You

As much as Oprah’s new age “new you” babble makes us feel like we just ate way too much cotton candy and then hopped on the tilt-a-whirl, we do love a little self improvement (love a self help book too, btw), and what better time to improve than New Years?!?

We have lots and lots of New Years Resolutions (last year’s was to start a blog – might’ve been the first one ever kept).  What are some of yours?

The City Tonight!

Beautiful Whitney Port’s spinoff from The Hills, The City, begins tonight at 10 pm on MTV.  Whitney has always been our favorite, and we can’t wait to watch her kick her heels up in NYC.  For an interview in which she finally acknowledges her fame and explains why they don’t show it on The Hills, click here.
