New York Women Top Vanity Fair Best Dressed

Say what you want about NY women, but those ladies can dress.  At the top, we have Sarah Jessica Parker, business women Evelyn Lauder, Diana Taylor, and Ivanka Trump, and philanthropist Julia Koch.  We love what VF has to save about why they picked the list they did.

“It was not intentional, but it’s not surprising,” says Vanity Fair special correspondent Amy Fine Collins. ”New York women may be over-represented on the list just because New York women rule. We have access and we have the contacts that can’t be duplicated anywhere else in the world. And we’ve got visibility – a great stage on which to perform.”

But not just any well-dressed New Yorker would do. Brains are as important as beauty.

“Intelligence seeps through style,” Fine Collins explains. “It’s hard to be someone who has an original and authentic and individual style unless there’s some kind of overriding intelligence. But if you’re a copycat or if you’re fearful or weak or timid, you’re just not going to cut it.

“You’re the person that people imitate, not a person who follows,” she adds. “So you’ve got to have some kind of independent mind. There’s a cerebral factor there.”

Love the humility. But the woman speaks truth.
