Movie Day Friday

What looks good this weekend?

Reprise.  Erik and Phillip are lifelong friends and aspiring novelists. Phillip’s book is published and Erik’s rejected. But Phillip can’t handle overnight success, and eventually Erik attempts to write again.  “Joachim Trier’s debut feature is a whimsical, intelligent reflection on friendship and youthful exuberance. His portrait of two young men for whom life and art occupy the same blurry space is full of honesty and carefully observed moments…Reprise is buoyed by visual flourish and an infectious energy.”

The Chronicles of Narnia: Price Caspian.  The children are transported back to the world of Narnia, 1300 Narnia years later.  The Golden Age is over, and the children must once again restore glory – this time with the help of Price Caspian.

How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer.  “Georgina Garcia Riedel lovingly explores the terrain of longing, loneliness, and self-realization among three generations of single women in a Mexican American family as they grapple with romantic drought.”

  • the makers of Prince Caspian kept to the original story surprisingly well… i heard they were going to make it into a silly pure-action flick, but thankfully this was not the case
