Homeless Running Club
Every runner knows that running is good for the body but better for the soul. If you run five miles, you don’t have to lift one additional finger to still feel like you’ve accomplished something that day. You never regret going for a run. Running is beneficial for you on so many levels, and it makes you feel good about yourself.
One Philadelphia runner is sleeping better at night – and not just from her work out. Anne Mahlum, a veteran marathoner, leads groups of homeless on runs early in the Philadelphia morning. After running by a homeless shelter over and over again, Mahlum felt compelled to extend her therapy to others who could benefit from it. The “Back on My Feet” running club began.
The club now has 250 volunteers and has logged over 5,000 miles. They meet three mornings a week between 5:30 and 6, and the only requirement is that runners have to be clean and sober for 30 days. All running gear is provided. We commend Miss Mahlum for such an awesome endeavor! For more, read here.

Wow. This is an awesome story. Gotta admire a person who sees a need, and comes up with a simple, yet creative way to meet it. Run Anne run!
