Movie Day Thursday on Friday
New feature here on elaney. We are going to spotlight the movies premiering each weekend we are most interested in (FYI you probably won’t see any of the SAW series on the list). Oh, and we are going to do this on Thursday…starting next week!
Without further ado…
Run, Fatboy, Run
We tend to love all British movies, and we are curious about David Schwimmer’s directoral debut. The movies is about a man who leaves his preggers fiance on their wedding day and his attempt to win her back. It’s not getting the greatest reviews ever, but we think that it might be worth a looksie.
Stop-Loss
Besides the fact that Stop-Loss was the breeding ground for the Ryan Phillippe / Abbie Cornish union, we do think it looks decent. The film is about retaining individuals in the military beyond their agreed to contract. It’s directed by Kimberly Peirce who directed the acclaimed “Boys Don’t Cry.” We don’t really like war movies of the We Were Soldiers variety, but we find films that give insight into the world of the military (re: Jarhead) are quite interesting.

I love this idea, elizabethlaney. I think having a feature on a new movie or two each week is great. Maybe you can help us stay up on new movies that are coming out that might not be as mainstream, like “Run Fatboy Run.” Which, by the way, looks pretty funny from the previews. As for “Stop-Loss,” I’m not racing to the theaters to see it.

I saw Jarhead and had sort of a mixed feeling about it. I went in with really high expectations for it, and it subsequently let me down a little. Still a good movie. Just not what I had anticipated.
