Favorite Things #5: Pashminas
We need to tell you something.
Our name is elizabethlaney, and we are addicted to pashminas.
It’s true. We can’t help but have pashmina-fever. They dress up an outfit and make us feel a little extra sparkle in our step. We have a hard time walking out the door without a pashmina – even when it might be a little overkill. Do you love your pashmina as much as we do? We want to hear about your wool abuse problem. And even more importantly, are you in the market for a new one: http://www.thepashminastore.com/?

Favorite Things #4: Viva Glam (from M·A·C)
In 1994, M·A·C started selling lipstick titled VIVA GLAM and donating all proceeds to fight against HIV and AIDS. Fourteen years and 7.1 million VIVA GLAMs later, M·A·C has donated over $100 million to the cause. AND M·A·C donates 100% of the retail price to the cost – now that’s the real deal.
Yet our love for VIVA GLAM doesn’t stop there. While our personal favorite edition is VIVA GLAM IV (we love berry tinted lipstick), Fergie is now the spokesperson for the first ever lipgloss version. And if great cause and the celebrity spokesperson weren’t enough, VIVA GLAM literally is our favorite lipstick. Even if it wasn’t a totally awesome idea and fun thing to be a part of, we’d still wear it! Bottom Line: Check it out.

The Kitchen of Life
“No matter what happens in the kitchen, never apologize.” – Julia Child
While this may not be the best advice for relationships, it’s our new professional motto. We are finding that by never apologizing (again in professional circumstances), it makes people more forgiving. And you can be unapologetic in a nice way. That’s the route we recommend.
UPDATE: Who knew Julia looked so much like Edna from the Facts of Life?!? It only makes us love her more.

The Beginning of "Friends"
At the end of our favorite show, the cast and creators of Friends did a series of interviews about the concept for the series. Here are a few comments from their conversation:
Matt Lauer: “The story goes that you became a little nostalgic and you start to think about what it was like to get out of college and be in New York, and some light bulb went on.”
Marta Kauffman: “We were looking at a time when the future was more of a question mark. Maybe because that’s what we were feeling at the moment, but looking at that question mark and going: that’s interesting. Everybody knows that feeling.”
Lauer: “Let me read you from the original treatment, the pitch, OK? “It’s about love, relationships, careers, a time in your life when everything’s possible. And it’s about friendship because when you’re single and in the city, your friends are your family.”

Favorite Things #3: smartwater
We’ve always loved it, but this water debacle has reminded us how much. From its clean cool bottle, to its refreshing taste, smartwater is by far our favorite bottled water. If you are a runner or an athlete, the electrolyte infused drinking water is a great no-cal alternative to Gatorade (which we also like, just not Favorite-Things-List-like). Only drawback? The 20 oz bottle is around $1.39. However, Merry Christmas to your body. From one penny pincher to another, it’s worth it.

Favorite Things #2: Panera Coffee – Hazelnut Blend
We’re pretty big coffee drinkers, and we don’t know why this one stands out to us like it does. But ohhhhh how it does. The flavor is just slightly sweet, and the coffee is so smooth. Nothing at all like thick molasses coffee from office break rooms (ugh). It’s so good, and we could drink it everyday (if we weren’t late to everything we do that happens before 11).
